Whirlpool Washer Error Codes Guide

Whirlpool Appliance Repair

Error codes are your Whirlpool washing machine’s way of letting you know exactly what’s wrong with it.

These are unique non-alphabetic numerical codes displayed on the washer’s control panel when the machine’s self-diagnosis system identifies a failure or a malfunctioning component. This is especially helpful in understanding what is happening inside your machine rather than simply guessing, as you would with traditional troubleshooting. You might not have to wonder what is going on with your washer if these codes are telling you that the problem is with the water inlet valve, drain pump, or electronic control board, respectively.

You can then: Determine the problems quickly without having to pay for expensive diagnostic service calls. Know whether a repair is something you can do yourself or if you need a professional’s help. Reduce your chances of damaging your Whirlpool washer by missing important maintenance tasks.

Int: Cycle Paused or Canceled

A Int code seen on your Whirlpool washer means that a cycle has been paused or canceled  usually during the spin and drain phase. To fix this just press the pause or cancel button twice then  the power button once. If the Int code appears again, then either leave the washer without power for  about a minute then try again.

LOC or LC: The Control Lock is on

To turn it off, press the Control Lock button. If you have an older model, check  the manual and find out which button to press. Some models need you to keep on holding the button  down.

dET: The washer can't detect the detergent cartridge

(applies to certain models). If you're using single-dose detergent, ignore this message. Otherwise, ensure the cartridge is inserted correctly and the detergent drawer is fully closed.

rL or F34: Items Detected in Washer During Clean Cycle

The rL or F34 code means something is blocking the Clean Washer cycle. This usually happens when items are left in the drum. Remove any items and restart the cycle. Make sure the drum is completely empty before starting the Clean Washer cycle.

F5 E2: The washer door isn't locking securely.

Ensure nothing is blocking the door and it closes completely. If the issue persists after pressing Pause/Cancel twice and Power once, unplug the washer for a minute.

F7 E1: This error indicates a problem with the motor's speed sensor

The washer can't reach the correct speed for the selected cycle. Ensure all shipping bolts are removed and the washer isn't overloaded. To clear the code, press Pause/Cancel twice, then Power once

F8 E1 or LO FL: Low Water Flow Detected

The F8 E1 or LO FL code means your washer isn't filling with water fast enough. This can impact the wash cycle. Check that the water supply is turned on and the inlet hoses aren't kinked. To clear the code, press Pause/Cancel twice, then Power once.

F8 E2: A dispenser system issue has been detected

(applies to certain models). Check if the detergent drawer or cartridge is clogged.

F9 E1: Long Drain Time

The F9 E1 error indicates a slow drain. This usually happens when draining takes longer than eight minutes. Check for a kinked drain hose or improper standpipe height. Using HE detergent can also help prevent excessive suds and drainage issues.
